You don’t know what you don’t know, and by the time it happens it’s too late.
We’ve all seen that things can go from successful to disastrous with diversity missteps.
Avoid going it alone and letting fear keep your from Being an Active Ally.
Yes. Your voice matters! All movements and changes to the system start as an idea between individual people, and they all feel like this at some point. But they overcome their doubts and fears and take action. You can be that person.
Yes. You ARE an activist, simply wanting to do more than being silent means that this program is exactly for you. Activism doesn’t mean we’re out there burning bras and chaining ourselves to heavy machinery, it looks different for everyone. Yes, these people are activists, but it doesn’t have to be scary and extreme like it’s made out to be. It can be the person who has inclusive language on their website, someone who listens to underrepresented people’s experiences, or someone who is willing to learn and stand up for what they believe. Your activism is up to you.
Every industry! There is no place, job or person who wouldn’t benefit from being more inclusive. Creatives, coaches, accountants, services providers, literally anyone that works with others and wants to learn how to make a change.
Hopefully! If you lose clients that don’t share in your values or who don’t believe that inclusion belongs in business, they aren’t your people. You will gain way more than you lose by being in this program. People want to hire others with their values and by sharing yours you’ll find many more clients who are aligned to what you stand for.
Boundaries are important and we will work on setting those boundaries with loved ones who may still be uneducated about race relations. This work isn’t easy but nothing worth having ever is and you will be among a whole community of people who share the same values.
